syncronized status for ebooks on device?

I have been looking for a method to know that a particular ebook in my library is on the device (kindle2) or not, but so far I have not found a way to do this. I have many books that the titles/author appear differently on the device than they do in the library and its next to impossible to figure out which ones because as soon as I open one on the kindle it resorts based on the access date. For the ones from Amazon in azw1 or with drm I can not view them, and looking at it on the device moves its location in the kindles list. Meta data that I change in the library also does not propagate to the device so I can't mark them or retitle them manually.

It would be very helpful if there was some indicator in the library view to let me know the same ebook is on the device and not deleted or removed in some way. I have had many books just disappear from my kindle for no apparent reason. I know its not a calibre issue, but it sure would be nice to see which ones are on the device and which not. Even a automatic 'is_synced' tag would be a great help if there was a way to auto-remove the tag if the book then later disappears. One complication with that idea is that Amazon will 'archive' books on occasion, but at least those I can get back via wireless if needed, as long as I know it disappeared. I just have sooo much stuff that I need to read that I don't even know when something disappears.

If anyone has an idea on how to tell a book is properly synced please let me know. Thanks in advance.
