Well, I think they pretty much had to drop the price. When the Jetbook was first released, it was the only 5" reader in town. Now there is a slew of the smaller devices including one by Sony. Despite the fact that the Jetbook has several things the Sony 5" reader doesn't have (SD card reader, music player, etc.), its hard when you are a company that no one has heard of to charge more than a company everyone has heard of.
