Ebooks deleted after so long?

I think I saw something about this somewhere before but have no idea, that when u buy an ebook it deletes after 2 years. Is this true? I don't want to end up with a pretty impressive collection only to have it disappear, lol.

That's not been true for me. I've purchased ebooks from Fictionwise, eReader, and Simon Says Shop from 2004 and still have all my ebooks.

It's possible the place you're looking to buy the book won't keep your books on a "bookshelf" for you to download forever? Make good backups!

I make CD's of all the books I acquire....this way I have backups & can also make copies for friends (of free PD items) I download way more than I have time to read. I want to have my collection in place when we retire in the next year or two and take off on our next adventure.

I can't remember where I heard it from, but it was a concern of mine, being that I've had this thing for 8 months and have already downloaded over 113 book. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to download all this stuff and then have my books expire in the future. It kinda reminded me of what happened with Amazon, all those people that got their books deleted off their Kindle w/o being told about it first. Granted the books were illegal, but thats neither here nor there-the point is that they were able to do it in the first place. I have a micro sd and the pro duo with all my books backed up on both of them just in case lol! I just wasn't sure if anyone else had heard the same thing

I've never ever heard that. But you're doing the right precautionary thing by backing them up.

The original Sony Librie released in Japan only had "rental books" only... You got to keep them for 60 days after which they were unreadable. Maybe that's what you are thinking of?

Maybe it was just a rumor somewhere then. It's funny tho, I don't know if it's BookonBoard or Fictionwise, but when u buy an ebook it has an expiration date, although every one I have seen has said, "Expiration:No expiration date". Or something along those lines. Whew, at least I can rest easy, my books will still be readable lol! I think I'd have a panic attack if I woke up one day to find all my ebooks gone. Although I have a panic attack if I leave my reader at home!!!
