If you're using Sigil, I think you'll find that it's a warning message about the possibility of breakage when splitting, rather than an actual error. A warning that gives you the opportunity to ignore it and forge ahead if you like. With Sigil's checkpoint feature, it's not difficult to roll back the change should a problem occur.
