I LOVE STANZA!!

I just yesterday got my iPhone and had my first read-on-iPhone experience.
Amazing. Crisp screen, I can reduce the font size so that I don't need to turn pages every 5 words.
The catalog is beautiful, transmission via Stanza desktop is a breeze - I'm in heaven.
Oh, I can set the backlight real low without changing backlight brightness throughout the entire system.

Anyone else?

Is it true that Stanza does not support embedded fonts?

hmm, haven't noticed.
But I think the only format Stanza is really comfortable with is ePub - and here you can't have embedded fonts, since it's basically just an HTML file.

PRC,LIT etc. all lose italics and bold type, so I guess fonts are out of the question.

But you can select fonts: Georgia, AppleGothic,Arial, Arial Hebrew, Arial Rounded, Arial Unicode, Courier, Courier New, Geeza Pro, Heiti, Helvetica, Helvetica Neue, Marker Felt, Thonburi, Times New Roman, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Zapfino

ePub does allow for embedded fonts. Take a look at The ePub of Three Men in a Boat here on MR in ePb. It's using embedded fonts.

Okay, it looks like even this ePub is being displayed with Georgia, so no, no embedded fonts.

Yeap I am a big stanza fan. While I do most of my reading on my macbook pro or kindle, I have a couple of books on the iPhone for when I am out and about and waiting or in a line. It's great.

If you use Calibre instead of Stanza Desktop to convert to ePub, you will keep italics, bold, underline, etc. in Stanza's iPhone App.

The best combination, I've found has been:
Calibre: Convert any format to ePub.
Sigil: Edit/review ePub code to fine tune settings.
Stanza iPhone: Read on iPhone, complete with chapters and text formatting.

I like Stanza too, but I don't like overtaxing my iTouch. I feel like I'm just killing the battery since I can only recharge so many times, which is why I eventually broke down and bought a PRS-505.
In Stanza, I change the background to bright yellow. This allows me to reduce brightness a little more and eek out some more battery life.

I know, and I realize I didn't write that properly. I mentioned ePub since only with ePub do you get italics, bold etc. on Stanza for iPhone. It's stripped out in all the other formats, as well as Stanza desktop.

Hmmm ... yes, you can add notes, but since Stanza desktop is not actually a management program, I doubt you get the noted back onto your computer.

Speaking of notes...

I'm relatively new to Stanza, and am having trouble with the annotation feature. Once you've marked a word, phrase, etc. and added a note, how do you read it?

I can find the list with no problem, but when you select an item, it goes to that point in the book, rather than opening the note to read it. I thought maybe tapping the (i) symbol would do it, but that just goes to the book as well. I've tried double-taps, tap-and-hold, and everything else I can think of short of howling at the moon, without success.

The only way I've been able to read the notes after creating them is to edit them. And I can't believe that's the way it's supposed to work.

When you add a note, the word/sentence is marked in yellow.
Tap and hold (for about 3 seconds, I think), then you jump right to the note.
