Sunrise XP alpha 2 roadmap

Laurens,

from the roadmap:
Quote:
* PHP-based web application for configuring and retrieving news channels. (Spring 2006)
Will the PHP application be standalone or dependent on a Windows server running Sunrise XP?

Quote:
Palm application for automatically retrieving pregenerated documents over a wireless connection. (Spring 2006)
Wonderful! But Pocket PC...?

Quote:
Additional output formats, such as CHM or BBeB. (Unknown)
I am positive that BBeB support in Sunrise XP would make the Sony Reader ever more compelling to a lot of people.

There will be a server version of Sunrise that can handle web service requests. The PHP app communicates with the server via a REST or SOAP protocol. So no, it's not standalone.

The web application is targeted at "power users" who know how to set up their own home web server.

I won't get round to this. The initial focus is on Palm and the Plucker format. Vade Mecum doesn't seem to be used that much, so I don't think it's worthwhile.

It all depends on whether Sony opens the BBeB spec and if I get a Reader myself.

Perhaps if MR and Sunrise fans unite to support you financially...

I just published an updated roadmap. I've abandoned many features, including the PHP web application and the Palm downloading client. Sorry.
