Question Wrapsol

Does anyone have any experience with the Wrapsol screen covers? I'm wondering specifically if they reduce reflection off the screen and if they reduce screen clarity.

Hi Polly!

I just bought the Wrapsol screen protector (only--not the full-body protection) and will let you know how it works. Should be here in 2 or 3 days.

Well, I installed the Wrapsol screen protector today.

First off, it is scary to be using water on the PRS-600 screen. I did a full shut-down before proceeding and tried to be careful. Back on and working now, whew!! (As a side note, when I turned the Reader back on I could no longer access one of the library books I had on there.)

Following the instructions I got the Wrapsol on okay. No bubbles, just an adhesive haze they claim will go away in 24 hours. I certainly hope so!

I can tell you that the glare is worse. Specifically, the lights above my chair now bounce back as if from a mirror. I can see their complete reflection, instead of the hazy glow I got before. (Sorry no before and after pictures. )

As long as the "adhesive haze" I mentioned clears up, I will keep the Wrapsol on, because it will protect from scratches when I use the stylus or my fingernail. It appears not to affect screen clarity. But if you are looking for anti-glare, I would say keep looking.

Good luck!

Okay, I can now say I like the Wrapsol screen protector! It does make the surface slicker and shinier, but it seems to make the text sharper and clearer. The adhesive haze has gone away, as promised.

That's it from here!

Hi Filark,

I'm curious, did you get just the screen protector or did you get the complete scratch proof protection package? Are you familiar with Invisible Shield products? How similar is Wrapsol to IS?

Thanks

Edit: After seeing some reviews, I decided to get the total protection pack for my coming PRS 300. If anyone is interested, use coupon code "chatter" to get 25% off

Thanks, xtine! That 25% off is a good deal!

I got just the screen protector, not the whole package. I keep my 600 in an m-edge cover and don't feel the need to protect its silvery goodness more than that.

My husband has a two-year old Zagg (I think that's Invisible Shield??) protector on his phone. If it's fair to compare the body protection of the old Zagg to the screen-only protection of the new Wrapsol, the Wrapsol is clearer and less "gummy" than the Zagg. I just hope it holds up as well over time!

Hope you like yours!!

I wish M-Edge would start selling accessories for the PRS 300 soon. Those executive jackets look really good

I just got a Wrapsol protector for my 600 as well. Compared to every other screen protector I've purchased in the past (Writeshields, Invisible Shields, you name it) for all kinds of devices (phones, computers, handheld games, etc.), I've never seen a gap between the edges of protector and the edge of the screen as large as this one. With the screen protector centered, there are 2-3mm of space on each side. I know there needs to be a small bit of space for putting it on and taking it off, but this is way too much. Dust and dirt settle into this crevice.

I sent an email to the company, and they told me this space was normal for putting the protector on properly and for "heat dissipation". That's a new one to me, and sounds like a load of bull, especially on an eInk-based reader. Does anyone else with the Wrapsol protector have that kind of gap between the film and the edge of the screen, or did I get a badly cut one? I sent the attached photos to the company (that is the white backing paper that is the exact same size as the film - I used it in the photos since it is easier to see) and am awaiting a response.

I'm actually pretty happy with mine. The only part of my screen that's left unprotected are the corners where the screen protector's edges are slightly rounded. I've attached pictures for you to compare (I'd be really unhappy too if there were huge gaps in the edges like yours )

The Wrapsol does add a little glare especially when I'm using my Reader at night with the Mighty Bright Travelflex but I'd rather live with some glare than risk getting scratches on my screen.

What I don't like about my screen protector though, is that there's this thin vertical line running down one side (see first picture), like they cut it wrong. Is anyone else's screen protector like this?

Btw, I got the entire body protection pack from Wrapsol.

Thanks for the photos. And it's what I thought: I think I got a badly cut one. Yours just has as tiny gap in the corner, and mine left whole edges unprotected. Anyway, I heard back from them, and they seem to think mine was within their tolerances, so I'm sending it back for a refund. Honestly, it was too sticky, anyway: it didn't leave any residue, but I thought it was going to pull off the touch layer when I peeled it off

I've ordered the Lexerd Anti-glare, and I'll report on that next

Patience.

Just grab the edge and go *really* slow.

Thanks, Terekkincaid. I'm actually waiting for a replacement screen protector as a minor mishap happened with mine, involving plastic wrap. I might be needing something sharp to lift the edge up before I can start pulling away. I just hope I don't scratch the screen
