Good for them but I have seen car owner/service/etc manuals floating around on usenet, newsgroups, p2p and proper HTTP servers since, well, these things have existed.

Good to see they're finally catching up to the digital age! I usually scan all my user manuals now anyway, just for ease of organizing. However, those files aren't searchable... a way to search the manual would be fantastic!

On a somewhat related note, I recently purchased a low-end knitting machine and the instructional video on how to use the machine was only available on VHS, not DVD. I've never even owned a VHS machine, and was taken aback that anyone would put out a product that wasn't available on DVD. I ended up returning the entire thing and getting something a little more user friendly. It's nice to see some companies are trying to keep up with the digital age.

FWIW, when we bought a Chevy Aveo a couple of years ago, it came w/ a hybrid CD which included not just an audio presentation of the vehicle's features but functions as an interactive manual when loaded onto a computer. Short trip from that to loading the manual onto the CD.

I have a full set of service manuals in electronic form for my Prius, downloaded from Toyota, as well as regular manuals.
