BeWrite Books at Smashwords

For the past eight years, we've offered only PDF digital versions of our paperbacks at BeWrite Books (www.bewrite.net), but joining MR earlier this year immediately alerted me to the fact that PDF-only doesn't cut the mustard any more.

So we've been working hard recently to re-jig the Word.doc source material from which we created our PDFs for print and ebook so that it can be perfectly converted into all other formats by the excellent Mark Coker and his team at www.smashwords.com.

Our first thirty-odd titles are now up and running and another hundred or so will be added over the coming month or two. We'll then add two new releases per month. All priced $9.00 and all DRM-free.

Once this project is in the bag, we'll also be doing our own conversions into other formats for our own site and for ebook retailers not covered by Smashwords. And there'll be a complete BeWrite Books site makeover in January.

Until then, PDFs are at bargain basement price (couple of bucks or less) at www.bewrite.net. And, in return for the advice and company here at MR, I'd be delighted to send PDFs as freebies until the end of the year. Just drop me a line of any title/s that catch your eye. Great to see an Indie publisher trying hard to make a niche in the new market. Smashwords is one small piece of that. I sincerely hope it all works out for you in the end Neil.

Thanks, Stormchild. We've been darned impressed by Smashwords. Founder and CEO Mark Coker took a personal interest and guided us through the first few titles so that conversions would all be perfect. It's good to see such a growing company adopt a real hands-on approach ... and play from such a square bat. Cheers. Neil
