Just got a PRS-300 Pocket Reader

Man I love this little Sony reader. I am very impressed with the PRS-300. I love its size, ease of use and the fact that it is not as locked down as the Kindle. This is my first ereader and I am loving it. I was debating between the Kindle 2 and the PRS-300. What really won me over on the Sony was that I can read my PDF's on it quite easily. The price is awesome too. My brother-in-law was able to hook me up with a deal from the store he works out and he was able to get me the PRS-300 for $139 and the PRS-600 for $215.

When I checked out the PRS-600 I didn't like it one bit. The thing that really turned me off to it is the touch screen. For the life of me I can't see why someone would want to get finger prints all over the screen they are trying to read. I know when I read on my iPhone I am constantly having to wipe prints off to be able to read the screen comfortably, but i digress.

For the casual reader, reading for pure pleasure, I think this is a great buy. I couldn't be happier. I can't report on the Sony book store yet since I have just been reading books I have purchased from other ebook stores.

Congrats on your new reader. The 300 is a sweet little machine. I'm enjoying mine as well. And welcome to the board.

Got mine today too! Love the size. It's, dare I say it, cute compared to my 505 which was stolen. The rubberized back is nice. A little disappointed that the next page button is a bit too far since I'm a lefty but switching it to horizontal view is perfect. Plus with the PDF support, the size is fine in horizontal view.

You can also use the up arrow to go backward and the down arrow to go forward.

I'll Keep the thread going. I received mine today and spent a good deal of time tonight reading it. I absolutely love it. I had a 505 which was a little large for my tast, you really could not bring it anywhere with you. The size on this thing is just perfect, they nailed it with the size.

It feels really comfortable i your hand, I don't even think I'll get a cover it already feels perfect when reading it, like a tablet rather than a book. I'm left handed and page turning is fine. The neoprene sleeve does a great job protecting it, and does not increase the size much. I appreciate the fact that the unit is aluminum and not glossy. I picked silver and I'm glad I did as the screen prefectly melds into the background. It's late here but my eyes are not tired in the least reading from it, I'm using Medium Font which seems just right and the lettering is so crisp.

I'm very happy with this solid little unit every aspect seems very stable even those little numeric buttons are rock Solid **** For this device.

I have to agree with you Scarpad. The screen is super crisp with a very nice contract ratio.

I'm a lefty too, but haven't found that the buttons are in anyway prohibitive to me.

I think I might want to get the cover for it, but I'll wait till my local Sony Style store or Best Buy start carrying them so I can see them on the reader in person to determine how much bulk it will add to it.

I'd like to find a third party hard cast to hold the reader but not neccessarily to read with it on.

I got mine today and I think it´s great!
Screen quality is amazing (this is my first reader and so the first time I see E-ink really up close), just as readable as paper and like many Sony machines build quality is fantastic.
I already managed to 167 books on it.
