thanks for the welcome ..... early on I was a 'high vacuum engineer' ... a sort of lab tech .... that expanded and changed as time went by and as I qualified to higher levels until last work was as a consulting engineer - more on production systems I guess.

Don't bet on it. Once a book lover, always a book lover. I now read about 40% on the reader and the rest on paper. My stash of books hasn't grown much larger in the 18 months I've owned my reader, but it hasn't gotten any smaller, either. This could be because I'm in a book swapping group and there is a steady flow of books into the house -- both those from my swapping pals and ones I've bought with swapping in mind.

Ah! You're a reader after my own heart. So far this year, of the 90 books I have read, 33 of them were mysteries, 18 were fantasies, and 16 were science fiction. Have you discovered Baen's Free Library? Over 100 free SF/F books for the taking. Then follow the links to their Webscription sight to buy more DRM-free, multi-format books at extremely reasonable prices. Fictionwise also offers a large selection of SF/F and mystery novels in DRM-free, multi-format editions.

Oh yes, September's MobileRead Book Club selection is going to be a mystery novel. See the voting thread to review the nominated books and information on how to join in.

We're very glad you've joined us here at MobileRead. Be sure to join in various conversations and let us know how you like your Sony reader and what books you are reading.
