Donation via PayPal

I made a very small donation via PayPal (by clicking the heart in the tool bar) but I've not received any sort of response or acknowledgment.
I was charged but no I'm worried it was not received!

You should be able to verify where it was sent by checking your Paypal account.

I sent monetary support to Calibre via Paypal a few months ago. From what I remember, I did not receive confirmation of receipt from Calibre team, but I did receive a confirmation email from Paypal. For me, it was assuring enough that the Calibre team got my money (which they very much deserved).

I donated and it was received I am sure, and I should donate again and probably will.

But one thing clouding m,y mind is that I would like to donate to several people, at least two not on the regular donation list.

An I find papal cumbersome although I have no reason to doubt their reliability. Plus there is no obvious way for the receiver to know who the mobile read sender is that I can see. Probably I am missing something here.

I would like to think that the receiver can at least look at the donation and say "Ahh this is from that idiot Helen who keeps pestering me"

Positive feedback is a well known contribution booster.

PayPal should always send an automated confirmation email. And if you send a message with your donation, then I always reply to that message. That is one way you can link your donation with your MR account, if you want to.

Must be possible, I donate to a couple of outfits via regular Paypal transactions where I defined the amount I want to donate per quarter

It's probably possible, I just dont much like the idea of automated payments myself -- they are something you have to keep track off (make sure your paypal account has funds and so on), so I've never looked into it. To me, rather than setting up say a subscription of five dollars a month, I'd much rather just make a one time donation of $60.

My paypal account draws on my current account from which I pay all my bills, if that account has insufficient funds that would be because my executor used them to bury me

I only ever keep a single account, with a limited amount of money in it linked to payment methods like PayPal/debit cards etc. That way my losses in case of fraud are limited.

Me too, but not because of the fear of criminal fraud, but of official fraud. Thanks to ZIRP, QE and fiscally induced inflation putting fiat money in banks is pouring it down the drain. Its safer in a well run hedge fund, or a bag of stones in your pocket.

I have asked Paypal how I can set up a regular donation to your account. Trying to find anything on the Paypal site is like trying to find a Greek with a job. If its doable and easy I'll post a link here.

I am among the numerous people who are boycotting Paypal because of their continuous refusal to allow setting a credit card as the default payment. I have had my checking account overdrawn on several occasions due to Paypal's greed in insisting to have the checking account charged by default (because they want to avoid credit card processing fees, of course), and their customer service is terrible in helping with these issues.

I would be happy to make a donation to Calibre if they started to accept Bitcoin as a payment method for donations. There is no way I am going back to using Paypal.
