Fictionwise 60% Off Sale (via Rebate) Thru 25 Jan 2008

I just received an email from Fictionwise anouncing that they are offering a 60% Micropay (their own currency for later purchases) rebate for all ebooks purchased before 25 Jan 2008. They say it is in celebration of their delivering one trillion words mark.

For those of you that use their eReader format, they also offer an additional 5% rebate. (Fictionwise owns the eReader format.)

No special codes are needed. The only requirement is that you pay for it with a credit card or PayPal. (You can't get the Micropay rebate if you pay with Micropay.)

Don't forget to use the 20% off coupon we got in the Backup notification email. You can use it with the 60% off deal. I also cleared out my wish list, spent over $100, and got another 10% off. I'm embarrassed by how many unread books I have now.

The 20% off coupon was in the email titled "Important eBook Backup Notification" sent on Jan 14. It was at the end of the email, and I almost missed it. The coupon expires Feb 2.

Ereader also has 60% rebate with Reader Rewards

I haven't purchased anything at EReader, so I'm not sure if it's like Fictionwise where the order has to be paid by credit card to get the rebate/reward.

There are a number of ebooks I'd like to get in this sale, but I've already got a larger MicroPay balance than I would like, and I'm really uncomfortable adding to it. I always wonder if Fictionwise is hurting for cash when they have these rebate sales, especially with the current economy. Is anyone else holding off for this reason?

I didn't get the Backup Notification email, I guess it's because I didn't have any Overdrive Mobipocket books.

hmm...I did get the notification email but after checking my bookshelf, deleted it and apparently didn't catch the coupon code.

I keep saying that too, but every time I see my wish list... 61 items and counting! It does contain all Discworld books I could find...

I wondered that myself, especially since last week their celebratory rebate for passing the "one trillion words served" mark was 5%, and now it's 60%. (Sure, for only five days, but still...)

I too almost missed it.

So ... transferring the bulk of my wishlist across -> $256; apply 20% coupon -> $213 spend; micropay rebate $129 plus 15% for > $200 = $162, or approx 76% refund. Not bad!

I did get hit with "Geographical restriction" on two books. Still, my cuz *does* have a U.S. registered cc, so I do have an alternative.

I find it is essential with FW to keep a large wishlist, so that when a really good sale comes along, it is easy to find a good list to buy.

Now. What to do with all that micropay ....
