Hello, been using ipod just bought Sony 500

Hello,

I've been lurking around the forums for a couple of weeks learning about the devices while bidding on ebay. Finally won a good deal on a Sony 500. I've been using my Ipod Touch with Stanza. Works fine for me, especially since I read mostly at night and a light isn't needed. Still the screen is a bit small so I went with a dedicated reader.
Hopefully, Sony will offer an upgrade deal to the 600. Otherwise I will use this old 500 for awhile before getting a new reader and then give this to my son.
Glad to be part of the forums. I'm learning a lot and hopefully I will shortly be able to contribute as well.

Hi granduke and welcome to MobileRead. I almost bought a 500 back in mid 07 but had to postpone for a while. Then I discovered MR and learned the 505 was on the way so I waited till Jan 08 and have been very pleased.

Even if you can't upgrade to the 600 right away, there are plenty of free ebooks you can download in the Sony lrf format right here at Mobileread. That should keep you busy for awhile until your 500 fizzles.
