GunnagetmeaEbookreader !

Hi all
Question : I am an avid Richard Laymon / Robert Ludlam reader, ( actually kinda like all sorts of fiction really ) and, as I am a complete novice with the Ebook thing, I would luv to know the best ( & cheapest, cough cough ) way to "aquire" ebooks, and the best way to put them on my new (hopefully) PRS-505
All suggestions greatfully accepted !

Hi doeflax, welcome to MR!

You'll find thousands of cheap--in fact, free!--books right here on MR. Of course, these are all in the public domain. So, if you like to read classics, you could be set for years!

I'll let others answer for the best places to buy non-public domain books, because I haven't bought any books from other than Amazon.

You won't find any discussion on MR about obtaining books illegally.

Check out the Deals and Freebies threads.

You may want to look at the Astak EZ reader. It seems very similar to the 505, but with a smaller price tag.

Welcome to MobileRead, doeflax!

I purchase many of my ebooks from Fictionwise. As a Buywise member, I get a discount on the ebook and micropay rebates for future purchases. I do have to use ConvertLIT (I download in Microsoft Lit format) and then use Calibre to reformat it in lrf for my Sony 700. It does take a bit of time, but the results are worth it. Good luck.

Happy Reader!

Hi doeflax welcome aboard. There are lots of very low priced and even free eBooks available without resorting to the 'dark side' which we definitely do not approve of here. You will frequently find them in the 'deals & freebies threads.

Our own Moejoe writes and publishes work on Facebook https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52388

You could also have a look at http://www.richardherley.com/ who asks only that you make a donation if you enjoy his books.

Also the first book in the hilarious Hal Sapacejock series free & the remainder very reasonably priced http://www.spacejock.com.au/Hal1Download.html

To mention just a few
