Hello. I've been creating books for my kindle using epub as medium in between which as far as I can see is the best to retain the tiniest formatting. Ok, I've used MS word and created my TOC which is great and saved to epub. Now my epub file has a TOC. In calibre when I've converted the file to mobi, there are two TOCs, the one I created and Calibre's autogenerated TOC. I was wondering how to disable the autogeneration of the TOC and still have a link to my original TOC which I created in word. Like when using Mobipocket creator, I can create a bookmark like #toc and later reference that in Mobipocket creator and will automatically provided a connection to that page when it has created the mobi book.
Possibly the answer should be obvious and I will appreciate a standard reply. Last edited by medwatt; 02-20-2011 at 12:00 PM. |

You'd be a lot better off asking in the Calibre forum; this is really a Calibre question, but an ePub question.

You can disable calibre auto-detecting the TOC by typing / in detect chapters in structure detection. Also clicking the Do not add auto detected chapter in Table of content. Normally calibre will use your TOC if it already exists. So I don't understand why you will have double. It is either the setting used or your file has links, which calibre will use if all else fails to generate it.
But you will have to play a while in calibre to fully understand all the settings. That is why I created my own program to easily edit epub's Table of Content, you should try it, if only to remove duplicate. (Link in my signature) |
