Sure can, but save one or two to use as fodder for practicing things using your new reader. Congrats on your purchase, and we will hold our breaths with you until it arrives!

Hi oldlady and welcome to the forum!
Might I ask what color is your Sony? For some reason, it's a vital issue...

Congratulations on your Sony decision. Wise choice.

Of course, I'm biased. I also have a 505, in Silver, and love it.

What color is yours?

Welcome to MobileRead, oldlady!

Although to the lot of 505 owners here, color seems to be an issue, I have a Sony 700 which only comes in black. I'm not sure what that means, but there ya go?!?! I am sure you will love your reader as much as I do mine and will become an ebook addict before long. Thankfully, they DO NOT have a 12 step program for that, so it's all good! Be sure and take a look at all the free ebooks you can download here at MR in the lrf format you need for the Sony. Enjoy!

Happy Reading.

Silver I think but, I don't care. oldlady because I am (75) and if I called myself elderly I might forget it in the middle. Bognor Regis is a sunny decayed resort on the south coast of England and I love it. Bought the PRS 505 because I went back to my childhood and was reading The Thrre Musketeers. It was so exciting that I couldn't put it down except that it was a nuisance propping it up on the table and having to clamp the pages. Planning to move on to various classics,Twenty Years After and lots of John Buchans. Maybe Paradise Lost. I didn't appreciate it in school, and maybe I still shan't. Otherwise I read crime, French history. Typical old lady really. I do read in the bath with the phone on a table beside me, a big cup of tea and a wee dram of malt whsky. Not with the PRS 505 though, I suppose. Though what a way to go.

I should add that I'm grateful for the kindness and support and it is making me feel more confident. If I had even heard about 12 steps I would have gone way.

Welcome to the Silver Sony Silver surfers club on Mobileread! It does'nt exsist really but maybe we should start one ? Maybe nohmi2 would be interested too. (Pleased to see you are a tea & malt whisky fan also!)

Hope you will find like the rest of us that MR is a great friendly place to be!

You won't need to stop reading in the bath once you get your 505. I read mine while in the pool. Just seal it up in a plastic food bag like the ZipLoc storage bags or similar. It's protected from drips and splashes and you can still turn the pages easily and no problem seeing through the clear plastic.

Right. It has come, it is charged, and as I expected, I am stuck. I went to Calibre and I don't know what to do. I am pretty dumb at first but once I know I continue happily. Numbers of young chaps have said to just play about "You can't harm the computer". I've laneded in some very funny places. So:-
Do I insert the CD-ROM installer to register it? Plus get a "My Sony membership ID"?
I have 2 CDs - 1 eBook Library, the other 100 Classic Books. They can't be for reistration. I have PG Huntingtower sitting on my computer. Please will a kind person tell me what to do? In simple steps? That will keep me quiet for a week.
