Importing from US or locally in Canada
Hi,
Anybody here had experience buying the SONY PRS-505 from US instead here in Canada (I'm in Ottawa). I'm asking because here the price is CAN$ 349 which reach $394 after taxes. I'm seeing the same device for US$ 249 but I'm not sure if after S&H + custom taxes I'll save enough to worth doing it. Any thoughts? Thanks! Paulo |

If you buy through US mail order, make sure they list the contents on the customs form as "educational" and you won't get charged customs.

Here's a link to a currency exchange calculator to help you assess possible savings.

Since your in Ottawa you're in luck. Why not buy from here. They are located in Nepean and their price right now is CDN$ 295. Also no wait time as long as they have it in stock.
Edit: And if you search here for shoprbc you'll find nothing but good reviews about them |

Thanks for the tips. However, after visiting a Sonystyle store yesterday I couldn't resist I bought one. It is amazing!
Thanks Paulo |

frozennorth,
bad timing for me... I looked at ShopRBC website but I didn't find it. Too bad I didn't see your message on time. It make me spend $60 more ![]() I already bought several things there and they are very reliable. Actually the store is 10 minutes driving from my place. The plus side is that I'm very happy with the eReader. Aware of the limitations, I'm very impressed with PDF support. Thanks Paulo |

I did not know that store sold the device. I bought mine at Rideau Centre, on the Sony Store. But i got a coupon of 50 CAD to buy some books on Sony bookstore, so i think it was not a bad deal.
