Hi

I have just stumbled onto this site and am happy to see it. I have a Sony PRS 700 and enjoy it. I also have an Ebookwise 1150 and left it back in the states when I moved to Germany.

In my previous life I worked and B&N and Borders. I purchased the first Sony and then upgraded to the 700. I have always been amused at the claims of how many books are available for the e-readers. I can honestly say that I have never purchased an ebook either from the Sony Store or Amazon and have at least 1500 titles in my stash. So when the subject of available titles for the Sony came up, I would always tell my customers to look online for some of the other publishers/ebook stores available.

As always, I am looking forward to the next generation of ebook tech.

Hi, and welcome to MR! A great place for rumours (and even some facts!) on upcoming devices...

Do you have particular favourite bookstores? How did you find the transition from EB-1150 to PRS-700? I've only briefly held and Ebookwise, but it did seem to have lovely ergonomics, though I do prefer the e-ink displays....

I have a Sony 505 and love it.

I have probably 2,000 ebooks, mostly history/biography, that were acquired in freebie form. But I do have a few that were purchased when I found them at a decent price.

Enjoy your stay.

Welcome to MobileRead, Yvonne!

I also went from an EBW1150 to a Sony 700. I couldn't be happier with my readers and they allow me to keep a ton of books at my fingertips no matter where I go! I am sure you will love the MR community, particularly all the free ebooks you can download for your Sony. Enjoy!

Happy Reading!

By the way, I am always on the look out for new ereading technology, too! A girl can never have too many gadgets.

Hi LazyScot,
Since I tend to read erotica/fiction/paranormal, I buy my stuff at Allromanceebooks,Fictionswise,LooseID and several other small publishers.

You are right, I like the way the Ebookwise feel in your hands but love way the eink looks. Now if they can just combine the two...???

Hi to all

Hello everyone! I am still new to postings, so I haven't figured out the indie replys yet.

Lady Blue, where do you get your history??? One of my major interests is military history and I have not found a good site for any.

It's interesting to see peoples reactions to the Sony. Things are very expensive here in Germany, so you don't see a lot of them around. They think is it one book and when I show them the table of contents they are amazed.

Most of the history/biography books I have are from manybooks.net. You can sort by category and browse the titles, or search by key words. There is no specific category for Military History, but there is much in that genre to be found in the general category of history. I have enjoyed so many of the books from that site.

Also, GoogleBooks is another great place to find books on history, etc. for free. But search for them through the Sony ebook store. That way they're formatted for the Sony Reader.

I'm sure there are many more legit free sites to find the category of books you enjoy. I just found so many good ones early on at these places that I felt no need to look further. These will last me a good long time.

I'm sure someone else will come along and suggest other good legit free sites for you to find the history you're looking for.

I hope this will be a good starting point for you. Enjoy.
