Format your feeds to PDF
Dear all,
I recentely bought a irex iliad book edition. I found that I can use it to read the online news and even blogs. To do that I copy-paste the content in a templated openoffice document with the proper page/margin dimensions and then export to PDF. For feeds that I read often instead, I wrote a simple python script that formats the content of the feed to a source for pdfLaTeX, with which I create the final PDF. It's in a very basic form, but does the job. The script uses python to access to the feed and to reformat it to pdfLaTeX. Then uses pdfLaTeX to create the PDF. The parsing of the feeds is done by http://www.feedparser.org . All the software is opensource and is cross-platform; I have it working on MacOSX and Windows. You may find the scripts here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~edosil/feed2iliad.py and http://www.xs4all.nl/~edosil/iliad.cls ; you are invited to try it, send comments and make it better! It is licensed in GPL. Edo |
