So what do you call it if you, as I think a lawyer in Dostoyevsky's "Karamazov" says, love humanity but constantly are disappointed in how your fellow man act?

Now my only problem is that my English/Danish dictionary translates it to something like "Worn out, tired, dulled... " which isn't really what I'm after. But I guess I'd better ask someone who is Danish about that part.

Whenever I feel this way, say for example when I hear reports that Dan Brown is the best-selling author in the world or that there'll be another series of Britain's Got Talent, I watch this video and feel a whole lot better

Definitely. But it is partly our own responsibility. No uprising in sight. It's not like people are hungry for intelligent television (I'm just as guilty as the next person).

There are of course many reasons for this. But I dare not go into that discussion, because I'll probably come off as a left wing nut.

If you're always disappointed in others the word to use is arrogant (is your way of living really better than how all other people behave?)

And on the off chance you are like me and everyone else really is inferior to you, you shouldn't be expecting them to do better, it's better to stay aloof, saves a lot of agitation

Whenever I get into discussions with people who aren't "left wing nuts" it seems that the breaking point is this:

I firmly believe, that there is more than meets the eye. Fx a Coca-Cola is not just a soft drink. It's a selling of a way of life. And Disney is not just an innocent toy and cartoon company. They are selling hidden gender and cultural agendas, which we are all deeply influenced by.

So what I'm saying is basically that we're living in Schein, and we have to try cut to the core of the meaning of things instead of buying their superficial story.

On the other hand people I argue with seems to think that there is no hidden layer. That a doll is just a doll. That we're essentially always free. Because we haven't (at least in any significant way) been influenced by the hidden stories of fx corporate business.

So in effect: When Mary at five years of age pretends that she is a princess and thus the prince has to come save her, it becomes something which appear to be natural. The girl has to be saved by the man and so forth.

I really don't get how anyone can subscribe to the latter opinion. At least it must be hard to agree if you'r not a white male on the top of the food chain.

It's in cases like this I curse that I'm not able to express myself more appropriately in English. It's really annoying.
