Apparently, *zero* mobipocket support, DRM or DRM-free.
Strictly Adobe kool-aid, by the looks of it. Too bad, the job dial made it promising... |

I want a 5" reader (as it's supposedly more affordable!) already. Though I wonder what the screen is like - it kind of looked glare-prone in that dutch video of BeBook mini (HanLin V5). Does it have a touch layer on it?
http://www.slashgear.com/bebook-mini...-demo-1443826/ http://vmbit.com/product.php?id_product=16 - Hanlin V5 for a bit more than the rumoured price. Last edited by Jokoto; 06-18-2009 at 08:59 AM. |

Hanlin has a price on the listed page: US$249 including a power adapter which the BeBook mini likely won't include to get to US$199.
Oh, and no; no touch screen or wireless, though the BeBook version (and likely the other Hanlin resellers) will support a WiFi SDIO card. The same applies to the V3s. |

5-inch screen is just too small for me. I view a lot of PDF files and I find my 6-inch V3 (EZ READER) quite competent in this regard. More than 90% of my PDF files are viewable and readable in landscape mode. But I can imagine 5-inch would definitely be too small for the task.
And I wouldn't be interested in the 9-inch model either, too big to carry around. 6-inch is just a perfect size for me. Last edited by manifestor; 06-19-2009 at 03:00 PM. |

V5 has better zoom in - 5 times for pdf file and others 3 times (if not necessary). 8 grayscale will improve the readings. Just wonder how many of us prefer 5" screen? is that too small? V3 is actually the ideal size, I do agree with manifestor! Anyway, price drops will attract more people while it maintain to use e-ink technology.

But I'd say at below $200, it's a very good deal for those who only read ebooks in formats like epub or mobi, and all those formats which allow text reflow. Last edited by manifestor; 06-20-2009 at 08:05 AM. |

Well, the V5 is *exactly* the width of a paperback book; so grab a real thin one and see how it feels.
![]() Factor in the edge-mounted jog dial for paging and it may actually be a superior ebook reader despite cleatly being inadequate as a pdf viewer. But then, folks are griping about how pdfs look on the Kindle DX 10" screen. ![]() As for small; some folks read ebooks on 3" and smaller screens and rave about it, so its all a matter of personal taste. I don't care how PDF looks on it, actually... I never read PDF files on anything other than a huge monitor (huge compared to the average e-ink device on the market).
For me, 5" sounds much better than 6". Portability is very important to me. |

The jinke page actually offers to buy this thing.
Did someone already buy it (and can comment on size, software and screen from own experience) - or do you get an email when ordering one, that says: "Sorry, not deliverable before X"? |

Hi..
We are getting our sample soon and once review, we will publish all the phots and pros-cons. Anyway, just to share one thing on pdf file reading. Whe it is enlarged enough to read (which is must better than V3), it will FIT to the screen. Someone mentions on scrolling left right....! Hanlin fits EXACTLY into screen and never have such thing with scrolling left right features. Maybe he has never used ebook before so think of computer features in moving left right when pdf is enlarged! Just sharing. |
