Digital eBook pavilion at CES (First Time EVER)

Dear All:

The largest and best Tradeshow in the world is the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January 7-10, 2010.

The show takes up the entire Las Vegas Convention Center, four Hotel Exhibit Centers, and the giant Sands Expo Center. In the past, the show has introduced almost everything (seen for the first time) in Consumer Electronics.

Lasting four days, here you will see the cutting edge of everything in Consumer Electronics: computers, netbooks. cell phones, cameras, and new gadgets of every description.

When October comes I WILL have free VIP Guest Passes to this show. Just ask me and I will mail you one.

The big news is that this year there will be a Digital eBook Pavilion. This will not be just rows and rows of books like other conventions. Here you will see the very latest in eBook Readers including 10 inch COLOR Screen and every feature ever dreamed up. THIS will be the roll-out for all that is coming in eBook Readers.

Here is the link to more info and the flyer:

http://www.smartbrief.com/news/cea/s...A-F3BC5CB4B226

Now, Las Vegas is the home of the cheap buffet and there are plenty of hotels and motels in the Downtown area like Vegas Club and El Cortez that are priced cheaply. There are daily shuttle buses from The Downtown to the show.

Yes, the Guest pass will be all you need to get in. Yes, it is a "For The Trade Only" show... but Guests of Astak are no problem!!

I checked into airfare - if the show was in February or early March it'd be doable. But in January, right after Christmas and before income tax refund...probably not, unfortunately. It's frustrating, I had planned on volunteering to work the Astak book demo'ing - as Robert already knows.

'Best' is personal judgement and may be different for each of us.

'Largest' however is a measurable quantity. CES is nowhere near the largest tradeshow in the world. The German Cebit show for instance is much larger.

Dear Phenom:

Southwest Airlines ALWAYS has specials and January is no exception.

Second, if you are willing to help at the booth I think we can help some on the airfare. We need you there pretty bad... alright, we need you rather desperately. Please, though, we need to firm up by August or hotels will be packed. Right now I can still get the Sahara at $80 during the show and $30 before the actual nights of the show.

I cannot argue... Cebit is big.

Dear T3:

We exhibited at CeBit two years. It is HUGE and larger in size: but a lot of the halls seem to be furniture and non-electronics. However... it is a huge show and longer in days.

But... CES is all Consumer Electronics and is not in one big Hannover Faire. CES takes up hotels, four Las Vegas exhibit halls, and the Sands Expo. I would hate to try to make a choice on who is larger in Consumer Electronics. Can we just agree that it is HUGE and all electronics and will damned near kill you from walking?? CES draws about 400,000 people and many of the exhibits are three stories high. It is more like a city than a show.

I will give you that you make a darned good argument, friend.

Hehe. You wouldnt want me there. The first cameraman/journalist i see..

"Yes, this is the Astak Primo model. It can read DRM Mobi -AND- ADE.! Not only that, it has a touchscreen with a built in glow light for reading in the dark. The glowlight is actually UNDER the eink layer, using new alien technology we uncovered at Area 51.

In OCT we are releasing out 14" A4 size reader, which can fold in half and fit comfortably in your back pocket. It also comes complete with a bluetooth phone integration, so you no longer need a cell phone. This new e-ink screen will do full-motion video as well, exporting full 1080i resolution at 30 fps.

This, gentlemen, is the ereader of the future.

If you have any questions, please direct them to the gentleman over there, the one motioning to me and sweating profusely with the strained look upon his face..."

So, robertb.. you gonna send me my invitation?

As I think I said before I am actually planning on moving to the Las Vegas area. If things go well... though to be honest they haven't for the past year and a half (*complicated*)... I would love to take you up on this offer.

This is very tempting and I am pretty sure I could make it. I'd even be willing to volunteer for the booth and get herded on to South West.

I'll think a bit about it, hopefully you will still have passes available.

Dear Griffonwing:

Are you kidding? If I can get a pirate with parrot and sword at my booth it would drive in the people:

Attendee: "Ah, Mr. Pirate, can you tell me about your devices?"

Griffonwing: "ARGGHHH, matey, it be a fine device!"

Attendee: "I can see that; but what will it do?"

Griffonwing: "Talk to the parrot, not me. It is a Digital eBook Reader, Swine. It be eatting up the Kindle."

Attendee: "Better than the Kindle?"

Griffonwing: "I says it be eatting up the Kindle, swabbie. This device has a mouth that can chew up other eBook Readers, Poxface. After I run my sword through the Amazon pirates I will show ye, iffen yur still alive."

Yes, it is normally me that is going "MOO-O-O" when they line up the cattle and start walking them to slaughter.

I live here in Vegas, so as long as I don't get another job that greatly restricts my ability to get time off I should be able to work a booth at CES if you would like the help.
