The timeline, at http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/timeline, indicates that the Calibre wiki is being abused for spam. An antispam login requirement using captchas could be useful.

kovid, if you do add a captcha, might i suggest using reCAPTCHA : "a free anti-bot service that helps digitise books". their slogan is "stop spam, read books".

For the moment I'm trying a spam filtering plugin rather than a captcha. Let's see how it goes.

EDIT: Actually, turns out that it was trivial to add reCaptcha for account registraction, so I went ahead and did it, thanks for the link
