Greetings. ^_^

Hi everyone. I've been visiting as a guest for a little over a week now, and I'm really impressed with the wealth of useful information. Everyone seems really nice and helpful too. I've been doing a lot of research, trying to decide which ereader to buy, so I decided to register and join in the community here to see what I can learn. I'm new to the ebook thing, but I'm an avid reader and I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow bookworms and figuring this ebook stuff out. |

Hello, asphodel, and welcome to MobileRead. Check out our wiki on the different devices here, https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/E-book_devices haunt the different forums, and ask questions when you need to . Lots of differing opinions on the different ebook readers, but eventually you'll decide which one will be best for you. The Kindle is a great device and if you plan to buy most of your books the amazon store has the best prices. Also, the 'instant' gratification is fun. The Sony gives easiest access to library ebook downloads. Books close at the end of the loan period, no more late fees! Others will chime in with their devices. They are all great..........the hardest part will be choosing the best one for you. Enjoy the journey. |

Welcome to MR, Asphodel. I have the Sony 505 and love it. I like that I have a wide choice of where to buy or get free books for it. I also like the fact that if I want to "borrow" books from the library all I have to do is download to my 505 (well, after the standard of getting a card etc.) If you are still trying to decide, remember that the only best device is the one that fits YOUR needs. So, having an idea of : genre of books you like to read, whether you have the have the NYT best seller right now, if you prefer to have Classics - PD, CC, whether you need to read a lot of only pdf formatted books, whether you care if the books have DRM or not, etc will help in making your decision. Have fun reading through the various forums, ask questions, and just have fun. I hope you find the best device for YOU. |

Thanks for the warm welcome. It looks like I've definitely come to the right place. My next stop is the Which One Should I Buy forum. I'm really feeling terribly indecisive! And wow, this silver VS blue rivalry is serious business! Yes, like the plant. |

Which is why you should get a Kindle. Then you could get a skin in which ever pattern you choose, and not be just 'one of the crowd'. (run away!!)

welcome to the forum, and I know you will find the reader that is just right for you! I love my sony because of the ease of downloading library books and the ease of use. My 505 seems made just for reading, period. I don't need extra bells and whistles. I need an easy way to read lots of books. This works for me

Hi Asphode! I'm a very satisfied Sony 505 user. I fit all my needs perfectly. Of course I chose a Silver one. Which ever device you decided upon, you will love this new way to read! Thousands of books to choose from in all genres, available free right here! Plenty of people to help you with any problems you might encounter along the way. Lots of opinions and lots of laughs! "Four Tao philosophers as cedar waxwings chat on a February berrybush ln the sun, and I am one. Such merriment and such sobriety-- the small wild fruit on the tall stalk-- was this not always my true style? Above an elegance of snow, beneath a silk blue sky a brotherhood of four birds. Can you mistake us? To sun, to feast, and to converse and all together--for this I have abandoned all my other lives." - Robert Francis Stitchawl |
