Purpose of Size column?
I have noticed that the value in the Size column in the GUI seems to only be updated when I first add a book to the library. It does not get updated if I add additional formats or convert to a new format. It also does not seem to get updated if I remove the book format that caused the original value to be entered.
I would have expected it to reflect the total space occupied on disk for that book (all formats). If not it does not seem to be of much use. Last edited by itimpi; 06-15-2009 at 04:51 AM. |

I thought it used to get updated, but it's clearly not in 0.6. Or maybe I'm just misremembering.

I was commenting about behavior in 0.5.14. If that behavior is also there in 0.6 my question is even more relevant.

It's supposed to reflect the size of the largest format.

OK - I will keep an eye open to see if it is doing that reliably as I am not sure that it is. At least that clarifies what the intended behavior is meant to be.
However, is that information really that useful? I have a wide variety of input formats, and they have typically been converted to either ePub or LRF format to use them on my current e-Reader devices (Sony PRS-500 and Stanza on a iPhone). I would be much more interested in the total space used for all formats of a book, or alternatively for a specific format of a book. |

The idea os to give you an upper bound on the size the book will occupy when sent to a reader. I don't think computer s aare so short of storage that you need to care about the size ocupied on the hard disk and if you do, the maximum size will allow you to find the worst offenders anyway
