Cross References
I'm building an ebook in the azw3 format using calibre's editor. It's a reference book with substantial cross references and the fact that the different text files are all named "part####.html" is driving me a bit nuts as I have to constantly figure out which file what I'm trying to reference is in.
I can rename the files in calibre, but the new names are lost between editing sessions. I assume this is because calibre is cleaning up the file and making it fit what the azw3 format requires. Hence I'm posting this in Kindle formats to see if there is a solution that will stay within the azw3 format restrictions. So, is there a way to establish file aliases within the book code so that I can write more content oriented links? Example: Chapter 1 is in part0002.html. To link to section 3 in this chapter I have to provide the address "part0002.html#ch1sec3". What I'd like to be able to do is provide an address more like this: "ch1.html#ch1sec3" |

Perhaps you sho0uld do your editing in the EPUB format.
Despite the ability to actually unpack and edit an AZW3, I still think it makes a lot more sense to do ebook-building in EPUB. I would only touch the AZW3 if it is the master format (purchased from Amazon) and it just needs quick fixes like for spelling or joining a malformed paragraph... Just convert with calibre when you are done. |
