Running from command line in Leopard

Here's a slight oddity that someone may know the solution to ...

On Leopard, if I run calibre by opening a command prompt and typing calibre<return> it runs okay, but is unable to display any images, i.e. all the buttons just display text. It's the same if I run the e-book viewer from the command line.

If I launch it the usual way from the Applications folder it works fine.

Any ideas as to what the problem may be?

It's some sort of bug to do with loading of Qt plugins. I haven't had the time to track it down.
