HI Guys and girls,
I've been reading the forums for a couple of months and am excited about the changes in the E-Ink word, though I am waiting for: 1) Back lighting 2) Sub $200 USD pricing 3)Availablity in Singapore (or ablility to post to here) 4) Something pocket-able (Though the Hanlin V5 is a good start) I am currently loving my Ancient Jornanda 565 PDA with Mobipocket and MS Reader, and am always on the hunt for products / books and formats! I'll be around, possibly not posting a lot, but feel free to say HI or whatever! |

I'm hoping for backlighting also. The problem, according to HarryT, is that the e-ink matrix is opaque, so no light can shine thru it. I say, "Why not make the matrix clear?" Maybe some day.

Hi chinesealbumart, Harry (Love to Kelrad Suit avatar), and DixiGirl,
Yeah, thought about that, Sidelighting is worth exploring...Doesn't the Sony reader (PSR 505+) havea cover with a mounted lit panel that goes over the top, like on PDAs? I know, Battery life would suck, but I get like 14-20 hrs with my PDA with back light set to the lowest, so it can't be that savage on power, can it? Thank you all for the great welcome! ![]() |

Hi Xiaopanda and welcome to MobiloeRead. I read on my iPaq for years and liked it fine but eInk technology is a great improvement. I especially like not having the back light shining in my eyes. My attitude has always been that you don't have back lighting with a printed book yet it's easy enough to read.
Anyway, there is a cover available for the Sony that has a built in light and seems to work fine. Check it out here http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665480080 Also, the 700 has the light built right into the reader. |

Hi cassidym,
The only thing I don't like about the sony is the whole propritary format thing...... I read (so far) mostly prc and lit formats.....and not really into stuffing around with firmware and dealing with the bugs that causes.... I just want it all... Not too much to ask, is it? ![]() |
