Question Plucker doc with Icon on Palm?

Hello,

maybe I am too stupid, but I can't find a way to have a Plucker document in my application list on the Palm, as it was possible with Plucker desktop. Can Sunrise do this?

Thanks,

Mark

Set the launchable bit in the Plucker document. You should be all set from that point.

I'm not sure if Sunrise supports all of Plucker's features, so you may not be able to do this (or set a custom icon, as Plucker allows), through Sunrise however.

I guess I know the answer, but still - is it possible to change it on the PDA?

Using FileZ or similar AppInfo modification tools, you can toggle the Launchable bit to "On".

Thanks, that works! However, for daily synced documents (such as the weather forecast I'd like to have in my application list) I have to set that bit every time...Laurens, do you plan to implement that feature?

Thanks again,

Mark

I'll see what I can do. No promises.

Sorry to disappoint you. I looked into this briefly and it's a good deal more work than just setting the Launchable flag in the PDB file. (Which is the reason I never supported it in JPluck either, as I recall now.) So no, this feature won't be added.

Ironically, it IS just as simple as that.

Set the Launchable bit (as --launchable does with the current Python or C++ distiller) and your document is now visible in the main launcher with the standard Plucker pacifier icon.

Why did you think this wouldn't work? Its worked like that for a very, very long time for thousands of Plucker users. I just verified it in POSE using FileZ and a non-launchable Plucker document, and it does indeed work exactly like this, as it should.

From the Plucker Document Format, of all things:

Quote:
Launchable: If this bit is set, an AppInfo block must be included.
The problem is the lack of AppInfo support in the core JPluck library. Just setting the bit in the PDB header does not make the doc appear in the Launcher. If it was that easy, I would've added it long ago.

FileZ most likely puts in an AppInfo block to make it work.

I stand corrected! Changing the bit field DOES make the document appear in the launcher. (Verified by editing a fresh PDB in a hex editor.) The Plucker spec has the AppInfo requirement for Launchable documents wrong. David, please fix the docs so people won't get confused.

Just released Sunrise 0.42d with support for Launchable flag.

Where in the spec do you see the error?
