Hi from "Oop North", UK
Just thought I'd declare myself and say Hi, t'would be rude not to! I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks with a view to buying a Sony PRS-505 after marveling at them in Waterstones. It seems ideal for carrying PDF versions of those chunky computer reference books I'm obliged to have for my job, as well as for carrying around goodly amounts of fiction.
In the absence to date of the Kindle being made available in the UK, I bought a PRS-505 online at the weekend only for it to be DOA today. Whist having to send it back for a refund is disappointing, I do have one reserved on the high street tomorrow so by tomorrow evening I'll be joining you all in ebook bliss. I'm loving the site so far. It's been instrumental in my choosing which reader to go for, and has introduced me to the joy of Calibre for OSX. I'm also enjoying the high signal to noise ratio, as might be expected on a forum dedicated to those who enjoy reading so much. Glad to be here and looking forward on talking with and getting to know everyone a little better. |

Lucky? Lucky? We had't collect sweat from coal miner's by using a piece of cold hewn rock. We had't to get up eight hours before we went bed, clean 't mill with our tongues, mind you, and then father would cut us in two with his sword.
![]() EDIT: For anyone who's confused about what we 'Northeners' are talking about, this might explain a little more: Last edited by Moejoe; 05-14-2009 at 03:34 PM. |

Good grief! Who'd have thought there'd be so many literate Northerners all in one place? Isn't this a herald of the forthcoming apocalypse or something?
![]() Thanks for the warm welcome and I'm happy to precipitate Python quoting at a moments notice in future, if required. |
