Hello

Hello all. I am a new member who has not used online forums much so far. I hope that I don't make too many mistakes, but feel free to correct and advise as needed.

No worries! No mistakes to be made Welcome to the forum and feel free to jump right in with any questions or comments. I have asked some pretty stupid questions, and no one has kicked me out yet

Looks like you're considering a Sony? I have to say, that's a great choice Which one are you considering?

G' day Lynn and welcome to MobileRead. I've had a Sony 505 for over a year now and like it a lot. Be sure and check out the Which one Should I Buy section here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=123 Lots of great information about all eBook readers.

Hi

Thanks for for your reply to my first post. I am thinking of getting the Sony 505, as I have already downloaded some Adobe format books to read in their Digital Editions software that I have downloaded onto my IMac. I believe I can convert these to Sony format, so I am paying attention to the posts that give me information on this.

I have asked at various shops in Sydney about Ebooks and the conversation often goes like this.

Me "Do you stock Sony EBook Readers?"
Shop Staff "What?"

My husband is currently in the UK but will be over in September, so I have asked him to buy me the Sony 505 for my birthday. Fingers crossed.

Sonys aren't avilable in shops in Australia.

In Sydney there's Dymocks for Iliad and Cybooks but they only do mail order now and they're not the most organised people on the planet.

DADirect in Melbourne do some brands - Illiad, Cybook and Hanlin by mail order.

If you want to buy ebooks buy online overseas. It's cheaper and safer. I 'bought' 2 ebooks from Dymocks. Meaning they got my money, I didn't get my books.

I wonder how many of us there are in Sydney now?

I'm going to the meetup next month in Melbourne. There are a few members there.

Best wishes in aquiring your reader, Laine

Welcome, Lynn. I use a Sony 505 and am quite satisfied with it. No... actually I'm more than satisfied with it! I'm really HAPPY to have it, and use it every day! I found a lot of free books right here, and in several other locations on the net.

I had to buy my e-book reader on-line in order to get an English language version. I found a company in the US that was more than happy to ship to me here in Japan, was quick to deliver, and has great customer service, so I was quite happy with all facets of this wonderful new technology. I hope you will be too!!
