Thanks for the nice post on my "nice post" at PA. I decided to write it because I don't think that many Palm users are aware of how important it is to have a good backup program and keep an archive of them. They spend the money on the expansion cards, screen protectors and others and think they're set, that is, until they experience their first crash, or let the battery run down completely and lose all their data.
I personally make a point of doing a backup just before I install any new programs just in case there's any conflicts (and that happens) or bugs or whatever that causes a reset loop. It only takes a few more seconds of your time and it's well worth it. I've explained this and other ideas at Brighthand's Zire 71 forum where I've created a posting for the Zire 71 FAQ. My username is the same there. Last edited by maceyr; 08-08-2005 at 04:32 PM. |

I don't do full backups, ever.... All my important data is hotsynced to my PowerBook, and I keep copies of all the files I install on it, in case I ever do have to do a hard reset.
I really should get in the habit of doing backups of my Powerbook, though... ![]() (Edit: After some consideration, I'm beginning to work on getting some backup software working... =) RFBackup on my Clie, iBackup for my Powerbook...) |

maceyr, Thanks for being all-around helpful; I see you around PA and BH doing the same.
I believe in backups, and offsite backups of the backups, in the event the physical location of the first backup is lost or destroyed. I have no desire to reconstruct the vast amount of data on my active handheld and computers. Perhaps I've experienced a few too many earthquakes, known people whose high rise offices had fires...it can happen. |

Thanks for the compliments, Dick Tracy. You also provide a wealth of information at many other Palm forums too and I've learned a lot from your extensive knowledge.
