Temeraire novels?
I just finished "His Majesty's Dragon" by Naomi Novik. It was a fair to good yarn, but I felt that the characterizations were a bit flat. The dragons didn't seem to be much more that humans that could fly and carry great loads. Not a lot of diferentiation from their handlers. Does this sort of character development carry through the rest of the series, or does it get richer with time?

I've read them all and it doesn't get any better in terms of characterization or plot. They are a good read, not a great read.
A couple of very good to excellent series are "The Chronicles of Grimm Dragonblaster" by Alastair Archibald (Fictionwise has the first 5 of the 7 books) and "The Godspeaker Trilogy" by Karen Miller (available at Fictionwise and Sony). |
