Possible to get tags from the calibre database?

Is there a command line interface available to interrogate the calibre database for a list of the tags currently assigned to books in the database?

for example:

calibredb -getTags

might return

fiction
nonfiction
favorite

etc.

Thanks.

not directly but you can do

calibredb list --fields tags

and then parse the output in a script

Is there any reason you need it from the command line? If not you could use a tool (eg sqliteman on Windows) that can access a sqlite database to look directly at the tags table in the calibre database.

I'm writing a script to add books to the database, and I want to present a list of existing tags to choose from, or optionally add a new one. Using the CLI seems nimbler than using sql.
