Support for other languages?
I am trying to convert a .txt file in Persian-Farsi (Arabic script) to LRF. It's not working. Is there any support for Arabic in Calibre?

calibre conversions are language neutral. The SONY reader however doesn't have the fonts to support non european languages. In addition, arabic IIRC is right-to-left and I doubt the reader supports that.

Bummer...any way around that? And if that was the case why did the output file from Calibre appear as all gibberish?

For txt files you have to specify the correct character encoding in the conversion options.
You can try embedding fonts in the generated LRF, but you'll have to experiment extensively for that |

LRF doesn't support RTL text, so I doubt it will display correctly even if you succeed in embedding fonts. The best way is to generate a Reader-sized PDF with embedded fonts.

I have tested PDFs with Sony and they work (PRS-700BC) however you have to create PDFs with correct font size so when they are displayed on the screen, they could be read. Fonts in PDF documents can not be resized they can only be zoomed in and that's not an option. So for now - until openinkpot takes over the world - you have to settle for meticulously formatted PDFs.
