Calibre and Sony

So I just got a new 505 and have been enjoying downloading books to it.

But I downloaded a pdf of Knight's Risk, Uncertainty, and Profit and converted it to LRF using Calibre. When I tried transferring it to the Sony, only the first few pages (the introductory Google books stuff) transferred, but not the main text itself.

I'm sure this is an elementary beginner's error, but what did I do wrong?

P.S. I've successfully transferred and/or converted about a 100 different other books in lrf, pdf, and epub formats already.

Is the PDF file a DRM-free eBook? If so, that's a puzzling bug. But Calibre and the underlying open-source tool-chain it depends on for some conversions lack support for converting DRMd files -- which may explain your problem.

If so, use google to discover how to remove the DRM from the file. And remember to consider both the legality and ethical correctness of doing so. At a minimum, do not pass on purchased eBooks to others who have not paid for them, as neither authors nor publishers receive compensation when you do so.

Are you sure that google books offers this book in a complete version? I found excerpt versions only. Does the PDF really contain all pages?

Thanks. I checked it and it was a complete, readable non DRM copy. Anyway, I erased it. Downloaded it again and this time I put it on my Sony without any problems.

Your guess is as good as mine as to the glitch.
