Smile Two simple question: detach and format sort

Hi guys,
first post on this forum.
I've bought my prs 505 two days ago and i've installed calibre with success and using it a lot on my osx.
First question:
is it possible to detach, disconnect device directly from calibre?
I can't remove prs 505 because finder says it's in use (by calibre).
Second question:
is it possible to order the book by formats?
I have many lits and few converted lrf; i would like to filter by lrf format.

thanks kovidgoyal for your impressive skills!
greetings from Italy
G

You can easily filter by format. Include something like "format:lrf" in the filter criteria to see the lrf books. Or perhaps "format:lit and not format:lrf" for books that have not already been converted.

When you get that message, open the terminal app. run the following:

Code:
lsof > lsof_output.txt
Attach the lsof_output.txt file. This will give me the information I need as to what files calibre is using on the device. It should not be using any files once all jobs relating with the device have completed but as you've found there are a few bugs left to work out.

[SNIP 2nd question; well answered already]
No, you cannot detach and disconnect directly from calibre. You have to quit calibre (so that it isn't using the device any longer). Then the finder will let you unmount it via any of the usual Mac methods (drag to trash; control-click for context-menu, choose eject; click the unmount arrow beside the device in the left-hand toolbar of a finder window; ...)

This is the issue I've been working on fixing. You should not have to quit Calibre to have the OS un-mount the device once all jobs have completed.

I just did some experimentation this evening. I was able to detach my PRS-700 from my Mac via any of the usual methods -- as long as there were no background jobs accessing it (e.g. no spinning hourglass). Calibre 0.5.6 and Mac OS 10.5.6.

Thanks Itimpi for the answer on format sort; shame on me i did not check "the search interface" on the manual.
Regarding unmount problem on osx; i tried again and again and magically it worked like a charm.(unmounting from finder)
Uhm, i'm pretty sure that when i found the problem, hd resource was kept by calibre; first days i played a lot with conversion and uploading\deleting. I will keep you posted with lsof output when problem will raise again (hope not).
Anyway thank you all.

I didn't see this thread before starting another one, but my PRS-700 won't dismount at all after using the latest version of Calibre, and in fact, crashes the Finder in OS 10.4.11. I don't get the "in use" error, the Finder just says it can't find the volume and then stops working. I'll try the Terminal command and see what I get next time it happens. Don't want to do that right now, as I just finished power cycling my Mac (again).
