hihi
hi everyone, i m new to this forum. i started 'reading' ebooks w/ my palm V and using my pda phone diamond now.....it just too small so i m thinking to get it seriously, buying a ebook reader. i m now thinking the sony prs 700, or the iliad. is sony prs 700 the only one w/ built-in light? this is quite important to me. thx!

Hi tekolen and welcome to MobileRead. The Sony 700 is the only Sony reader with the built in light. Although you can get a cover from Sony that has essentially the same light as the 700 built into it. Check it out here http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665480080
I prefer the 505 over the 700 as the 505 has better defined print. I'd recommend you compare them side-by-side at the Sony store. |

hi all!
cassidym, thx for ur advice! since i m in hong kong, the ereaders r not sold here so i can't hv them compared in real. if i bought it online, the 505+cover is usd369.98, which is usd20 more than 700, do u think it's worthy? what about other brands, do they hv built-in light? I prefer the 505 because of the better contract and I don't need a reading light. If we have any members in HK who own Sony's perhaps they could meet up with you to let you see the screens

Hi, I have the Sony 505...it doesn't have a light, but you can get the lightwedge, which I recently ordered. I think that will be better than having a backlight. Less strain on the eyes.
