So hi. My PRS-505, which I had to buy, if only because it matches my initials (use google to figure out the R if you're curious), is in the mail. Amazon.us via Michigan to the Netherlands. Cheaper that way. I hate Sony for segregating the market. 200 euros in the US, 240 in the UK, 300 in Germany and France?!? Not available in the Netherlands... Are They Nuts?!? Or just plain greedy bastard?!? But now the forum-nag is gone, and I will have my reader in hand probably early next week. I'll start off with Jeffrey Carvers Chaos Chronicles, which I encourage every one to read. He's a nice guy. Writes nice fiction too, and you can try before you donate. Just the way I like it! - Pascal. |

Yeah. It doesn't work, Pascal. My first post was about getting the software to stop bothering me and right after that I was hooked. I think I must have posted about ten or so times since then. It's all a fog, actually...

Welcome to mobileread. If you have diverse reading habits check out the free ebooks on mobileread. Look at the blue bar near the top of the page and you will see ebooks. For your Sony 505 you will want to chose the LRF format. Since you like Jeffrey Carver's books maybe he will stop by and say hi. He is a member here (one of many authors who frequent mobileread). |

Because his middle initial is "R" ... so his initials are "PRS" as in the Sony PRS-505. And, if you Google his name, then you can find out what the "R" stands for .... which I didn't because I've got a lot of other stuff to do at this exact moment. That's what the deal is. Welcome to MR, Pascal. |

So many forums, so many posts. Addictive - maybe - we'll see. I didn't get email updates for this thread, so there is one less incentive... Jeff knows I like his work, I've posted on his blog too. I like to plug people I like I've been reading ebooks occasionally for a long time. The first ones on a Handspring Visor (Palm OS thing). That was probably the best screen for it so far. Bit small perhaps. I've also tried it on my XO OLPC (laptop.org), the screen is awesome, but the software just isn't there yet. |
