Wired News - New Link

If you use Wired News you might have noticed some problem with the link. They've changed the sub-domain for the Isilo-Friendly version. The new link is:

http://wired-vig.wired.com/news_drop/palmpilot/

Note that the old one redirected to this one but if you had your page configured to not follow off-site links, it no longer downloaded the data below the main page.

The link above stopped working a few days ago. The last time it was updated was June 17. Bummer. Does anyone know the new link?

Looks like Wired followed the steps of NYT and CNET and moved their mobile site to Avantgo's server which is configured to be only accessible from avantgo hosts (that is if you are syncing with Avantgo):

http://pshost.avantgo.net/channels/wired/

The original link still works perfectly fine for me.

Ahh and so does the other ... probably there was just a temporary glitch. Still, the Avantgo version of Wired uses the other link and also looks slightly different.

Yes, the original link still displays all the stories, but if you look at the datelines, the most recent ones are dated June 17, whereas on WIRED's regular home page, lots of newer stories have been posted.

Or is it just me who has WIRED PDA pages stuck on June 17?

Look again. They are now dated June 24. Wired Avantgo is only updated once a week

Yes, I see that the last update was June 24, but the stories themselves are the ones that stopped at June 17.

I've put the PDA page and the regular web page (both updated on June 24, but with different sets of stories) side by side here, if anyone wants to take a look.

Looks like you are right. I'd say give it a few more days, then a polite e-mail to Wired.com asking about the status quo of their mobile channel. I have the bad feeling that they'll point you to the version that only works with Avantgo.
