I am just excited to post this resource
I found that if you go to overdrive.com (I think that's the link, but I will verify) you can search your local library and find downloadable links for just about any book you want, new and old. They are usually timed, but that's ok in my book! And NO DRM!

If they're "timed", they do have DRM. I haven't seen Overdrive offering any DRM-free books.

igorsk is right. At least that's how the Fairfax (VA) library works with it's Overdrive eBooks, many of which I have checked out.
