Still Waters by Kate Johnson. This is the fourth book in the Sophie Green Mystery series. Also available are I, Spy? ($4.40), Ugly Business ($12.09, print only), A is for Apple ($4.40) and a prequel The Twelve Lies of Christmas ($2.00).

Synopsis

-Tis the season to get deadly.

It-s a week before Christmas. Sophie is out of work, out of love and out of her depth-literally. Stuck in Cornwall on the holiday from hell with her ex-boyfriend, her boyfriend-s ex, and two intimidating colleagues. If that-s not enough, Sophie-s got her hands full trying to prevent her best friend-s perfect engagement from blowing up in her face.

When a corpse turns up in the local harbor it-s the perfect distraction-at least until someone tries to add Sophie to the body count.

Tangled love, tangled lives, tangled clues. Now there-s a holiday menu Sophie can-t resist.

Warning: Warning, this title contains bad language, bad behavior and bad puns. There are scenes of violence, gore, and unashamed sentimentality.

Usually it's for a limited time (sometimes a day, sometimes months) so grab it while you can if you want it.

Almost all of these are limited time offers. I know the Random House freebies (16 mostly romance genre books) are at least all month (some have said possibly all year, but that may only be on their own web site). These three just popped - of these, Samhain titles tend to be free for a week or a month. Still Waters was rumored to be Sunday only, but still shows free today. And the Lee Child book just showed up, so no idea how long it will be free.

Keep in mind that they have announced free books on the Amazon Kindle Blog, links and all, saying they would be free for several days, then had the blog entries yanked and the books either go up in price or get pulled completely, with no explanation. In general, if there is even a remote chance you (or anyone on your Amazon account that shares or will share a Kindle with you) will want to read a free (or bargain) book, you should buy it as soon as you see it.

The shortest time sales I've seen have been less than an hour....
