Hello from WV

Hello everyone! I just ordered my red Sony PRS-505 and I cannot wait for it to get here! I have been an avid reader ever since I first learned to read and I think I am really going to love the 505. I read all of the reviews, looked at all of the photos and checked out the opinions on this site and decided that the 505 was the one for me. I live in a rural area and Sprint service is virtually non-existent at my home; so the wireless capability of the Kindle 2 just wasn't a selling point for me. The 700 looks awesome and I love the thought of a touch screen; but the screen issues scared me off. There is no Sony store where I live, so I decided to go with the 505 based on the reviews here and other places on the web.

I have enjoyed reading the posts here and look forward to spending my free time that I don't spend reading here.

Welcome to MobileRead and be sure to check out the books here. You can get the lrf format and start saving them to your computer now so you will be ready to load your new Sony when you get it

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! I just checked the tracking on my 505 and it should arrive on Monday.

I have been checking out the books here and other places on the web and am just amazed at the selection that is out there!

Is it true that there is software that will convert other formats into the lrf format for the 505?

Yes, Calibre is the best software for converting books from one format to another. And it's a free download here at MobileRead https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=166

I received my 505 on Monday as scheduled and I love it! I have already finished one book since I received it and am working on my second. I purchased a 8gb memory stick and loaded up tons of music and being able to carry my books and music all in one device is awesome.

We own a video store and sometimes it gets a little slow during the afternoons and that is when I really appreciate the 505. I read very quickly and was finishing books before the day was over and then had nothing to do during the slow times. Now I always have more books to choose from, this thing is just great.

Thanks for the info about Calibre. I downloaded it and it works like a charm!
