Reflash 500 to 505 - is it possible

I own a Sony Reader 500 and want to read epubs as well. As far as I know the hardware between these two readers isn't that different.

Has anybody tried to reflash it? Is there another possibility to get these applications on a 500? It's a shame Sony dropped support for the original Sony Ebook Reader.

Short answer is no, it's not (and as an aside the original Sony Ebook Reader was the Librie, not the 500!)
