I'd love to get one! I am a sci fi buff from way back. I also like old English romance - think Jane Austen, Bronte sisters, etc., and historical novels about King Henry & Queen Elizabeth.

But by far my most prolific reading is in sci fi.

Too bad you don't have a device yet! Random House is giving away five titles this month at suvudu.com (?- I think that's the address), and most of them are SciFi titles. You could download them to your computer though

Welcome, LadySpades. For SF/F (when you get a reader) you might want to check out Baen & be sure to look at their free library. All of their books are DRM free and reasonably priced.

While I'm totally enamored with my Kindle, I will point out that there are many free books available to you right now, even before you figure out which one you want to purchase. For Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX, you can get Calibre from calibre.kovidgoyal.net. Calibre will let you read books in Mobipocket, Sony BBeB, and ePub formats. Calibre can also convert books in other formats to one of those three. Then, download free books from places like MobileRead, Baen, Feedbooks, Manybooks, Muncey's, etc.
