Hi everyone, I'm a newbie in Japan!

After 3 months of headache inducing deliberation, (I hate making bad purchases) reading device reviews, googling and lurking around forums, I finally decided on the Sony PRS-700. I don't have it in my hands yet, but following it with online tracking, I know it has been sitting at Tokyo immigration for the last 3 days

I'm wondering if the unusual delay is because my dog has nipped the heels of every delivery guy....
Anyway I am very excited about my new toy! This will be my very first reader. YAY!! Can't wait.
I've been fretting on how the heck to get my 100 free ebooks without a USA credit card and stuff like that.
Silly yes I know, but I WANT them. They are mine! Why should only Americans have them?

I also can't work out if I can use two libraries with one reader, ie. Calibre and the Sony or only one.

Welcome, to MobileRead dragonbone.

There's loads of PRS-700 expertise here to draw on.
While you're waiting for your delivery, have a look at the Wiki, and the free books in the Upload section, if you haven't already checked them out.

Hope you get your hands on your reader real soon!

BTW what does 'Karma' stand for under 'Posts' on a user's profile?

Karma is like gold, except you can't buy anything with it, or mold it into anything, or touch it, or distract your dog from nipping delivery guys with it. It is just one reader's way of telling you that they found value in your post and wanted to thank you.

Also, forget about all the free Sony ebooks, you can find much better free ebooks for your Sony right here. Just go to the ebook forum here:

And forget about the free Sony books. Every one that Sony has is already uploaded here and usually in a better format.

Thanks Cassidym. Yes I agree! After viewing the extensive list of free books here, that Donnageddon kindly pointed me to, I felt more than a little foolish regarding my original post about MY free books blahdiblah.
I LOVE this place and I'm soooo happy that I found it!
