Microsoft uses E Ink to promote XBox games

In a press release Korean-based Neolux announced today that Microsoft will use its Ink-In-Motion motion-based POP displays to promote future XBOX games. Developed by E Ink and featuring E Ink's proprietary electronic ink technology, Ink-In-Motion incorporates the display features most requested by marketers: clear, crisp, custom fonts and graphics; a thin, flexible form factor; and long battery life.

Bioware's Jade Empire, hitting stores this week, will be the first XBOX game promoted with Ink-In-Motion.

Do you know how big is the display? How is it controlled? How much does it cost? I am really interested in the e ink technology but very few applications are on the martket, aren't they?

yonyon, E Ink has a GIF animation of the XBOX game promotion. It looks about as big as the hardcover of an XBOX game. You can order the trial kit (order sheet) for $400 USD.

Thanks for your indications. I am currently surfing through the Neolux website. I think I am going to write them to have some more details. This new kind of display sounds really great, doesn't it? Did anyone see the real product? The cost is quite expensive for people like me... Do you think the price will decrease in the next years?

I hope the price for E Ink and electronic paper technologies in general will decrease in near future. It probably depends on how quick consumer electronics will take advantage of the new display technology (the Sony Librie isn't enough to make a big difference).
