My husband and I recently filed our taxes and our return allowed us to buy presents for ourselves! He got a new tv, I got a Sony Reader PRS-700. Already I'm filling it up with free ebooks from Gutenberg.org and mel.org, and in the whole day I've had it, I've already finished a book! I'm so happy to finally be able to read again - remembering to carry around a bulky book is too much hassle, as the Sony Reader fits nicely into my purse. Even so, I have already noticed a couple issues with the reader, specifically how it alphabetizes by the authors' first names. Ugh! A librarian's nightmare (and I should know, I am one). Anywho, it's nice to meet you all, and I hope to learn all about the wonderful things I can do with my new reader.

Hello jessw61 and welcome to the forum.
A lot of books you will find in Gutenberg are also available here in the MR book upload forum - nicely formatted and ready for use on your PRS-700. I recommend to check out Calibre - a lot of us are loving this tool for organiziing our ebook libraries and also for transfering books to the reader. Additionally Calibre makes it possible to reverse the "authors name used for sorting" within the metadata of an ebook...

Hello, Jess, and welcome to MobileRead.

I"m betting there is a way you can change the way your reader sorts, and that some kind soul here (we have lots of those) will tell you how.

Please download at least one of our books, and compare to what you are getting at gutenbert. I think you'll be astounded at the difference.
