Hello

My name is Shae. I live in the Dallas Metroplex. I am 36. I have been married for almost 18 years and we have 5 kiddos ages 16 to 8.

My wonderful Husband purchased the Sony Reader 505 for me as a Christmas gift. It is in the bestest color there is BLUE I have 2 bursting at the seams bookshelves and books literally littering my house and so he was an easy target for this gadget. I have already downloaded more than 140 books, and read more than 15 books since I put my first book on it December 28th. All of them free. I have made a deal with myself to read 50 books for free before purchasing one to make up for the cost of purchasing the reader. After that all purchased books are free game to me as I used to pay about $20 a week on buying books.

I have many questions, and have actually had many answered by scoping this forum out since I first started my search for a ereader in November. WHile I love my SOny, I secretly covet mobipocket books and want a device that will allow me to read those books, as then I could get books from my library for free. But convincing hubby that the one expensive item he bought me is not good enough and that I might need another one is never going happen, even if it meant more freebies.

I am glad I am here. I do not talk much, I am more of a "reader" and enjoy browsing. every now and then I may jump in.

Hello and welcome! What do you like to read?

My bookshelf is very grateful for my 505. You've got a big backlog to catch up on there! I've read about 50% of what is in my library, I need a vacation so I can work on that...

I love a good murder mystery with some romance added in to melt my heart, but am open to almost any kind of genre. My least favorite is Sci-Fi, but I tolerate it.

I read about 2 books a week, I will have it done in no time Much to Hubby pocketbook's dismay. If I took a vacation I would not get to read at all.

Did you see the free Harlequin books? There's a couple of those in there.

Here is a great site. Books listed in chronological order.

You can type in any authors name, and get all the books they've written in proper order.......

Hello and welcome. Not sure what SF books you have been reading... but many of them have Romance aspects and/or Mystery aspects.

The Asimov Robot (Daniel E Olivaw) books are excellent mysteries.

The Time Travelers Wife is supposed to have romance elements.

Wizards First Rule while not a mystery has alot of Romance in it. (It is the sub genre of Fantasy... which is a branch of SF.)

What are some of your favorite mysteries? Authors?

Hi CribQuilter and welcome to the Forum. You can use Calibre software (available on this site for free) to convert MobiPocket books to the Sony LRF format. If the books are DRM protected you have to get software for that as well although it's not available on this site.

Meanwhile, have you looked into borrowing from public libraries? I download eBooks in ADE format for free from the Fairfax (VA) library. There is no charge and you get to keep the book for 21 days.

These are REALLY good, I can vouch for them. Oh, and hi and welcome from another Texan (even though I now live in Illinois).
